SIGNS OF COCKROACHES

Cockroaches thrive in an unclean environment.  They can be brought into the home (or other buildings) as eggs or spread through neighboring buildings and dumpsters.  Cockroach eggs are often transported through shipping materials (like cardboard boxes) in deliveries.  Depending where you shop, they can then end up with you as uninvited guests.  Dirty clothes, litter and trash, debris all provide hiding spots for young or adult cockroaches.

As with all pests, a clean environment makes it considerably less likely that roaches will find your home a suitable place to take residence.  Unsuccessful attempts to self-treat will result in the cockroaches going into survival mode.  They move through the walls, along pipes and electric wires, and emerge in other locations throughout the house or building.  Large infestations can also cause asthma in children.

As part of Summit Pest Control’s Integrated Pest Management focus, we treat cockroach infestations without liquid application of control agents whenever possible.  This means more convenience, a cleaner environment, and a more effective solution.  No preparation is needed and the premises does not need to be vacated.  In some severe cases, liquid applications may be necessary.

Effective treatment requires meticulous, targeted attention.  Identifying travel patterns, feeding areas, and burrows are also essential to a quick resolution.  Like bed bugs, self-treatment can help create more resistant strains of cockroaches that can end up requiring more intensive treatment.  It also causes the infestation to spread throughout your home or other property.

Environments such as restaurants or warehouses with consumables can greatly reduce the problem of cockroaches (or the potential for the problem) by adjusting certain habits and behaviors.  With a little attention to detail you can lower the chance of a cockroach infestation significantly.
