Bed bugs are parasites with patience
They are a resilient, resistant species and can lay dormant for up to a year waiting for a food source (that would be you) to become available. They’re hitchhikers and can travel from person to person. Even just one Bedbug can lead to a large sized infestation. They like to hide in many places such as trash, litter, debris, crevices in sofas, clothing, blankets, backpacks, luggage, cribs, mattresses, springs, bed frames, cracks in walls or ceiling, outlets, recliners, and even hardwood floors.
These parasites can tell when a person is sleeping based on their CO2 emissions and become more active during these periods. Because some bed bugs can neutralize the reaction to their bites, infestations can go on for months unnoticed. The size of the problem by the time they call a professional is usually a good indicator. Other customers we’ve served may have felt embarrassment and tried to self-treat prolonging the problem and making the bedbugs more resistant.
BED BUG REMOVAL
Being able to eradicate a problem begins with being able to identify it correctly. Knowing where to look for bed bugs and being able to identify any active sites in an environment comes with over 30 years’ experience in the business. Meticulous treatments are necessary to combat a bed bug infestation, even a small one. Industry standards allow for 3 treatments over a three week period to ensure eradication although we often find complete results after our second treatment.
Self-treatment helps create more resistant strains of bed bugs that can end up requiring more intensive treatment. When we come to treat for ants, mice, rats, termites, or roaches we are always happy to perform a free bed bug inspection if requested. When dealing with commercial customers, communication with tenants or renters is key to quickly eradicating the problem. Humans often contribute to pest conditions without even realizing it.
